The Opportunity

Work closely with the National Performance Director and National Beach Volleyball team to deliver high-quality management and operational support to Volleyball Australia’s National Beach Volleyball Program, based across the National Training Centres in Brisbane and Adelaide, as well as the associated Performance Pathways programs.

Key Responsibilities (drawn directly from the Position Description)

  • Support the National Performance Director (and key National Beach Volleyball staff) to lead and manage a team which will deliver the management and operational requirements of VA’s National Beach Volleyball Program and Performance Pathways Programs, including logistics, budgets, financial management, reporting and organisation of international and domestic travel. 
  • With the National Performance Director, directly manage the operations of VA’s National Beach Volleyball Program and other key projects as agreed with management within the scope of VA’s Performance Pathways Programs.  
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with international and national federations, Australian Sports Commission, Australian Institute of Sport, State Institutes and Academies, state associations and other key stakeholders to support the achievement of program delivery. 
  • Prepare high quality reports and other written communications to support Board, management and stakeholder decision making processes and to maintain information flow about program activities. 
  • Support National Beach Volleyball staff, the Athlete Wellbeing and Engagement Manager, and other stakeholders to promote the wellbeing of National Team athletes and staff, in line with established policies, practices, and the broader internal support network.
  • Working with the National Coaches, managing the tracking of and communication with targeted Australian players competing and studying at overseas universities. 
  • Professionally represent VA nationally and internationally to ensure VA is respected as a high-achieving organisation. 
  • Build and maintain strong and effective working relationships with other coaches, staff and performance service personnel within our national programs as well as with the Queensland Academy of Sport (QAS) and South Australian Sports Institute (SASI). 
  • Work collaboratively with all VA staff and volunteers. 
  • Support agreed VA, AIS, QAS and SASI staff development and education activities/programs. 
  • Contribute to a safe and healthy work environment, free from discrimination and harassment by working in accordance with legislative requirements, the Code of Ethics, and all VA policies.

Selection Criteria

Qualifications

  • Relevant Tertiary qualifications and /or demonstrated experience in Sports management and administration.  

Essential Experience

  • Demonstrated experience working within high performance sport programs. 
  • Experience managing projects or events that involve both internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Proven experience working successfully in integrated, multi-disciplinary, high-performance sport environments. 

Desirable Experience 

  • Knowledge of the structure and operation of International Australian Volleyball. 
  • Knowledge of the Australian and Volleyball high-performance systems.  ‘
  • Experience of working directly in high performance sport programs and communicating with a wide range of audiences including external stakeholders, parents and partner organisations. 
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and managing budgets. 
  • Computer Literacy including MS Office Suite with an aptitude in learning other specific industry or commercial software. 
  • Experience in arranging complex group travel within Australia and overseas.  
  • Experience in website content management. 

Employment Conditions

  • Interstate and international travel will be required in line with role requirements.
  • The role requires flexibility to work weekends, evenings and outside standard business hours to meet the operational demands, in line with role requirements.
  • This is a permanent, full-time position and may require additional reasonable hours as necessary to fulfil the responsibilities of the role.
  • Employment is subject to the satisfactory completion of relevant pre-employment checks, which will include reference checks and background screening appropriate to the position.
