Our rowing programme is well supported by excellent facilities, with a beautiful rowing shed located on the Swan River and strength and conditioning facilities on-site. On campus, our Lighthouse building is home to a weights room, cardio zones, recharge areas, and access to physiotherapy services. The Lighthouse is utilised by students, whether they are part of our high-performance sporting programmes or those prioritising a balanced active lifestyle.
About the Role
We are seeking an exceptional leader to take on the role of Head of Rowing.
This is a rare opportunity to lead and shape a premier school rowing programme within a values-driven educational environment. The successful applicant will provide strategic and operational leadership across all aspects of the programme, ensuring continued high-performance while fostering inclusive participation pathways for students of varying experience and aspiration.
High performance is a defining and celebrated element of PLC Rowing. At the same time, we are committed to ensuring that rowing remains accessible to students who wish to participate for enjoyment, skill development and personal growth. The Head of Rowing will ensure that opportunity and belonging remain central to the programme.
Whilst this is a part-time position, the College welcomes flexible proposals, including opportunities to combine this role with our Head Coach - Rowing position, coaching, teaching or other value-add contributions to the wider School community.
About You
You are an experienced rowing leader with a proven track record in high-performance coaching and/or programme management. You bring strong organisational capability, strategic thinking and the ability to inspire both athletes and coaches.
You will demonstrate:
- Significant rowing coaching and/or programme leadership experience
- Strong strategic capacity to lead the long-term development, sustainability, and performance of the programme
- Experience leading coaching staff
- Strong understanding of safety, compliance and risk management in rowing
- The ability to balance competitive excellence with student well-being
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Professionalism, integrity and sound judgement
- Experience working with a high-performance rowing programme will be highly regarded.
- Teaching experience will be welcome but is not essential
- A willingness assist with the transportation of boats to competition locations is essential
- A current Working with Children Check and National Police Clearance are required.
