Description

The Performance Pathways Manager acts as the key Manager across the Victorian State Team and Melbourne Vipers Programs, supported by the Pathways Coordinator.

State Teams Program

They are responsible for developing and managing a state-wide Pathways program that identifies and promotes talented young athletes, coaches and officials to receive advanced training, represent Victoria in competitons and progress into the National program.  This is directly implemented through the Youth (U18) and Junior (U19-23) State indoor and beach teams in addition to activities such as training camps and access to professional classroom training to further their development.

Melbourne Vipers Program

They are responsible for the overall coordination of the Melbourne Vipers program for their participation in the Mahindra Australian Volleyball Super League (AVSL).

Key Responsibilities

State Team Program

  • Develop and implement an annual state-wide Pathway Plan for athletes, coaches, and officials
  • Liaise with Volleyball Australia National Pathways Director to ensure consistent and contemporary practice
  • Manage trials, parent/athlete and coach communications and administration of all State Team programs
  • Coordinate coach and referee selections in collaboration with Coach and Referee Committees
  • Manage all travel and accommodation requirements for all athletes, coaches, team personnel, and relevant event officials, with Office support where required.
  • Manage all uniform requirements for all athletes, coaches, team personnel, and relevant event officials, with Office support
  • Serve as Head of Delegation for all State Team programs including inter and intra-state travel to National Championships for Youth Beach Championships (March), Junior Indoor Championships (July) and Youth Indoor Championships (September).

Melbourne Vipers Program

  • Coordinate and support player trials for the Melbourne Vipers teams, selection, and participation in AVSL including promotion of trials, recruiting athletes and coaches, early talent identification, and support for selection decisions where required
  • Coordinate and support training, working closely with coaches to manage needs and requirements to ensure effective training
  • Responsible for ensuring all team members and coaching staff are aware of and abiding by all relevant Policies, including NIF Anti-doping and Member Protection Policies
  • Assist at Melbourne Vipers home match days

Australian Volleyball Academy (AVA) - Victorian Hub

  • Development and implementation of AVA - Vic Hub
  • Manage AVA contractors including coaches and performance staff
  • Key point of contact between VA, coaches and athletes and their families
  • Oversee all program initiatives

Education and Training

  • Identify needs and provide direction for an annual state-wide education and training plan that ensures availability of appropriately qualified personnel to meet State Team demands and support the overall pathway objectives
  • Provide assessment and review of coaching team and overall squad deliverables at the end of each program

Pathway Development Programs

  • Design, coordinate and promote series of state-wide skills camps and programs to increase access to more advanced training for athletes and coaches in regional areas, supporting an alternative pathway to state and national team representation.
  • Collaborate with beach volleyball stakeholders and community members to implement beach volleyball pathways strategy including upskilling coaches and providing beach pathways opportunities for athletes not located near traditional beach volleyball courts/locations.

CRM and Communications

  • Maintain up to date database of eligible and interested coaches, players and officials working within the State Team programs and National Development/Pathways Program
  • Treat all information in the database in accordance with Volleyball Victoria Privacy Policy
  • Provide written reports and publications relevant to Pathway programs for use on website, social media, eDM’s and Board reporting.

Finance

  • Liaise with Finance & Operations Manager to ensure accurate, timely invoicing and payment of invoices to suppliers
  • Manage the financial resources of the Performance Portfolio

External Relationships

  • Liaise with Volleyball Australia, as required
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external stakeholders including sponsors, suppliers, State government agencies, local government authorities, and other volleyball, sporting, and interest groups
