Description

The Director of Rowing is a critical role providing a key link between the MUBC Committee and the General Manager-Operations, High Performance Head Coach and Club and Volunteer Coaches and Athletes. This role focuses heavily on three of the four Pillars of the MUBC Strategic Plan (details below): People; Participation; and Performance. The incumbent will role model the Values of MUBC, provide cultural leadership of coaches and athletes, day-to-day management of the coaching team, planning, communicating, hands-on coaching, and regular reporting to the MUBC Committee. The role will work closely with the High Performance Head Coach and Club Coaches and lead talent identification, recruitment, and ensure athlete development to feed into the MUBC High-Performance Program as well as University, Club and Participation programs.  The role will also work closely with the General Manager-Operations to support administrative, operational and financial activities.

The Director of Rowing is responsible for:

  • Leading the overall MUBC Rowing Program ensuring high levels of participation across all levels of rowing and regattas: University, Club, State, National, International and Masters.
  • Leading and coordinating the activities of the MUBC Coaching Team and the General Manager-Operations.
  • Fostering an inclusive, professional and supportive sporting environment.
  • Leading the Talent Identification, recruitment, Youth Pathway Program and Athlete Development to feed into the MUBC High-Performance Program and Club, University Games and participation programs.
  • Actively encouraging and managing volunteer coaches.
  • Leading the management of all rowing equipment and in particular the boat fleet including maintenance and repairs as well as boat allocation.

The Director of Rowing is responsible for ensuring the programs are aligned to both MUBC’s strategic goals, the University of Melbourne sporting club requirements and, where appropriate the Rowing Australia National Performance Pathways Program (NPPP) objectives.

Essential Requirements

  • First Aid Certificate
  • Level 2 Coaching Accreditation
  • National Police / Criminal History Check
  • Working with Children / Working with Vulnerable People Check
  • Drivers Licence
  • Current Victorian Boat / Marine Licence
  • Experience rowing coaching at Underage (U19, U21, U23) National level or higher
