Bendigo Stadium Limited (BSL) manages and operates Red Energy Arena, Borough Club, St Arnaud Sporting Club and Swan Hill Indoor Sports and Recreation Centre. As an organisation, we pride ourselves on being a leading sports and entertainment centre, delivering community focused hubs through various sport codes, entertainment events, business functions and family moments supported with delicious cuisines and refreshing beverages.
The Bendigo Stadium (Red Energy Arena) is the home of the Bendigo Braves (Senior and Junior elite Basketball teams), the Bendigo Spirit (Women’s National Basketball League team), the Bendigo Strikers (State Netball League) and the Phantoms Volleyball Club (State Volleyball League).
Our Stadium provides a state-of-the-art facility, including a 4000 seat show court arena, ten (10) basketball courts, licensed bistro and café bar, and premier function spaces for all events. The venue hosts 15,000 patrons per week.
About the role:
We are seeking a highly organised and driven Sport Operations Manager to lead the day-to-day delivery of sport operations at Bendigo Stadium.
Reporting to the Head of Sports, this role is responsible for the planning, coordination, and execution of domestic competitions, programs, and key operational functions including officiating, rostering, and NBL1 requirements.
This is a hands-on leadership role that plays a critical part in translating strategy into action, ensuring competitions run smoothly, systems are optimised, and participants, officials, and stakeholders have a consistently high-quality experience.
What you’ll be doing:
In this role, you will lead the operational engine room of our sports team by:
- Overseeing and (or leading the coordination of) delivering domestic basketball competitions
- Overseeing scheduling, fixturing, and game-day operations
- Managing referee, official, and supervisor rostering and development
- Coordinating the operational delivery of Junior Braves programs
- Leading NBL1 operational requirements, including logistics and compliance
- Driving continuous improvement across competition delivery and systems
- Maintaining and optimising sport management systems and data integrity
- Supporting financial processes including revenue tracking and reconciliation
- Acting as a key point of contact for clubs, officials, and stakeholders
- Leading and developing a team of coordinators, administrators, and supervisors
- Embedding a strong “One Team” culture through collaboration and clear communication

You will bring:
- Experience in sport operations, competition management, or similar environments
- Strong skills in scheduling, rostering, and operational coordination
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver under pressure
- Experience leading or coordinating teams, including casual or volunteer workforces
- High attention to detail and strong administrative capability
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- A solutions-focused mindset with the ability to respond in real time
- Formal qualification in Sports Administration or related business degree
Desirable:
- Experience in basketball or similar sporting environments
- Familiarity with sport management or rostering systems
- Exposure to financial administration and reporting
