About the Opportunity

AusCycling is seeking expressions of interest for a six-month fixed-term opportunity within the Performance Pillar to backfill the role of *Operational Planning and Strategic Initiatives* whilst the incumbent is on deployment to another project.

This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in supporting the delivery of the Performance Program. Working closely with the Director of Operations – Performance, and the Performance Senior Leadership Team (SLT) the role offers exposure to high-performance sport operations, governance, policy development, athlete categorisation, selection processes, and strategic project delivery.

Role Overview

The backfill role will be responsible for ensuring the key responsibilities outlined below are delivered effectively and in alignment with organisational priorities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Executive level support to Performance Senior Leadership Team
  • Close collaboration with the Director of Operations on performance business matters to ensure efficient and effective operations across the broader Performance team
  • Provision of secretariat support for AC Board sub-committees (High-Performance Committee and Athlete Committee).
  • Coordination of athlete categorisation processes, including establishment and secretariat for panels, communication with stakeholders, AIS reporting requirements and dAIS nominations.
  • Coordination of national team selection processes, including establishment and secretariat for panels, stakeholder communications, policy updates and approval processes.
  • Preparing briefing papers, reports and strategic documentation for senior leaders and committees.
  • Maintaining effective relationships with key stakeholders across the high-performance sport system.
  • Support the broader Performance Operations team and deliver special projects, as required

This role requires strong organisational skills, attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and a collaborative approach to working with a diverse range of stakeholders.

Key Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Experience in project coordination, business operations, policy development or administration within a complex environment.
  • Strong planning, organisational and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience preparing executive level reports, briefing papers and business documentation.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver outcomes within tight timeframes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
  • High levels of professionalism, discretion and attention to detail.
  • Strong computer literacy, including Microsoft Office applications.

Experience within a high-performance sport environment, national sporting organisation or similar setting will be highly regarded.

Contract Details

  • Six-month fixed-term opportunity
  • 0.8 Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) position
  • Reports to the Director of Operations - Performance

Location & Dates

  • Flexible location (Adelaide or Brisbane preferred)
  • Commencement target date: 1 July 2026
