Gymnastics Victoria is seeking Expressions of Interest for the positions of Independent Member on Gymnastics Victoria’s two sub committees: Governance and Nominations Committee (GNOM) and Finance and Risk Committee (FRISK).
Gymnastics Victoria is a leading state sporting association, and the governing body for gymnastics in Victoria. Gymnastics in Victoria is a strong industry that develops essential early years foundation skills and provides pathways for athletes through seven Gymsports.
The Independent Member on the Subcommittee is a voluntary position, With the term commencing from the date of appointment, and up to the end of the first meeting of the Board following the Annual General Meeting in the next year - with the possibility of re-appointment.

This role is suited to individuals with a strong understanding of board governance, organisational development and stakeholder engagement, ideally within sport, not-for-profit or member-based organisations. The position provides oversight of governance frameworks, board and committee effectiveness, succession planning and performance evaluation, while supporting the development and review of policies and governance practices. The role also contributes to the identification and assessment of candidates for board and subcommittee appointments, promotes engagement with the gymnastics community, and helps ensure the organisation meets its governance obligations within relevant legal, constitutional and industry frameworks.

This role is suited to individuals with experience and understanding of accounting standards, financial management, audit and risk oversight, preferably within not-for-profit organisations. The position provides independent oversight of financial performance, compliance and governance, including reviewing financial statements, monitoring organisational risks, policies and delegations, and ensuring compliance with legal, taxation, employment and workplace health and safety obligations. Previous board or committee experience is desirable, along with the confidence to critically assess information, ask probing. CPA, CA or equivalent qualifications are highly regarded.
