Northern Suburbs Football Association & Northern Tigers FC

  • Sydney New South Wales Australia
  • Full Time
9 Sep 2026

Description

The Head of Football sets the direction for community and representative football, provides strategic leadership, runs the Northern Tigers football department as a business, and connects the two pathways together. You are employed by NSFA and you work across both organisations.

This is a football leadership role, not a head coaching role. It suits someone who holds a credible technical view, can carry a budget and a department, and wants to build the relationship between the Association, Northern Tigers and our member clubs.

What you will take on

  • Lead the reset of the NSFA Development League and the wider development pathway and connect member club football to the representative pathway so clubs can see where their players go.
  • Build and deliver coach education across our 28 member clubs, personally and through the NSFA Coach Educators.
  • Develop and strengthen the player pathway from community football through to senior representative football in collaboration with member clubs and Northern Tigers Technical Director and coaching staff.
  • Set one playing philosophy from the JDL through to first grade and hold every coach to it.
  • Lead the Northern Tigers football department and deliver the Grassroots to Excellence direction.
  • Develop the football operational budget, manage approved expenditure and identify opportunities to improve the long-term financial sustainability of Northern Tigers FC.
  • Represent NSFA and Northern Tigers FC with member clubs, Football NSW and partners.

About you

Essential

  • Senior football leadership across both community and representative levels.
  • AFC or Football Australia A Diploma, or actively working towards it.
  • Business qualifications, or equivalent commercial experience running a department or business unit.
  • Budget ownership and financial reporting experience.
  • Coaching experience at a level that earns the respect of a first grade head coach.
  • Proven people leadership, including leading other senior football staff.
  • A clear technical philosophy and the ability to teach it to other coaches, not just hold it.
  • A current Working With Children Check.

Desirable

  • Experience connecting grassroots and representative pathways.
  • Coach education design and delivery experience.
  • An existing network across Football NSW and community clubs.
  • Experience leading a department through change.

Year one

  • One playing philosophy documented and running from the JDL to first grade.
  • The Northern Tigers football budget delivered, with the subsidy down on the prior year.
  • The Development League reset designed, agreed and ready to run.
  • Coach education running into member clubs.
