As we continue to strengthen and evolve our sporting program, we are seeking an outstanding Director of Sport to provide strategic leadership for one of the largest school sports programs in Australia, engaging more than 3,000 students each week and to lead its next chapter of innovation, excellence and student participation.  

The Role 

The Director of Sport will lead the direction, operational excellence and ongoing development of Sport across our School. As the School's APS representative and key sporting ambassador, the Director of Sport will foster strong relationships with peak sporting bodies, drive competitive success, and ensure the continued growth and reputation of Caulfield Grammar School Sport within the APS and broader independent school sector. 

You will provide leadership across a large and diverse team, champion sporting participation and performance, and create an exceptional experience for students, staff and families. With a strong focus on future planning, systems improvement and stakeholder engagement, you will continue to position Caulfield Grammar School as a school of choice for aspiring young athletes and sporting students. 

This is a full-time ongoing opportunity, based across our metropolitan campuses. 

Key Duties 

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for Sport at Caulfield Grammar School, developing and implementing the School's Sport Plan and ensuring alignment with the School's strategic priorities and future growth aspirations. 
  • Lead, inspire and develop a high-performing Sport Department, fostering a culture of accountability, engagement, collaboration and professional excellence across staff, coaches and administrators. 
  • Foster strong and collaborative relationships with campus-based teams  
  • Design, implement and continuously improve innovative sporting programs, frameworks and pathways that support participation, wellbeing and high-performance outcomes, while aligning with the School's Teaching and Learning goals. 
  • Oversee the delivery of a comprehensive and inclusive sports program, ensuring opportunities for students of all abilities to participate, develop and excel. 
  • Partner with the Executive Leadership Team, campus leaders, staff, parents, APS representatives and external sporting organisations to strengthen stakeholder relationships and drive impactful outcomes. 
  • Act as the School's representative within APS Sport and other key sporting networks, enhancing the profile, reputation and influence of CGS Sport. 
  • Drive operational excellence through effective planning, policy development, resource allocation, budgeting, risk management and continuous improvement initiatives. 
  • Oversee the management of significant operational and capital budgets, ensuring sustainable investment in people, programs, facilities and equipment. 
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislative, governance, child safety and risk management requirements, maintaining the highest standards of safety and accountability. 
  • Lead the ongoing review of structures, systems and processes to improve efficiency, consistency and service delivery across the Sport Department. 
  • Contribute as a trusted senior leader to whole-of-school strategy, planning and decision-making. 
  • Model and live the values and behaviours of Caulfield Grammar School, creating a culture where people thrive and excellence is celebrated. 

Skills and Experience 

  • Tertiary qualifications in Sport Administration, Business Management or a related discipline. 
  • Significant experience leading complex sporting programs with large participant numbers and workforce cohorts. 
  • Exceptional leadership capability, with experience building, mentoring and inspiring high-performing teams. 
  • Demonstrated success in developing and executing strategic plans that deliver measurable outcomes. 
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate at Executive level. 
  • Sound commercial, financial and operational acumen, including experience with budgeting, resource management and governance. 
  • A forward-thinking mindset with a strong focus on innovation, continuous improvement and organisational impact. 
  • Hold or be willing to obtain an Employment Working With Children Check / VIT Registration (as required).
