The Brisbane Broncos are seeking a Senior Strength & Conditioning Coach to support the physical preparation, performance and availability of our NRL playing group across field-based conditioning, reconditioning and gym-based training.

How you can play a part

Reporting to the Head of Performance, this is a senior, hands-on performance role responsible for delivering and supporting high-quality strength and conditioning services across the NRL program, with a particular focus on on-field conditioning, return-to-performance reconditioning and supporting in the integration of gym-based physical preparation. In this role you will:

  • Plan and deliver field-based conditioning programs that develop the physical qualities required for NRL performance and align with the broader performance strategy.
  • Lead and coordinate reconditioning programs for injured and returning players, working closely with medical, physiotherapy, rehabilitation and coaching staff to support safe and effective return to training and competition.
  • Support the planning and delivery of gym-based strength, power and conditioning programs across the NRL squad.
  • Monitor player training loads, physical responses and readiness, using performance data and practical observation to inform day-to-day programming decisions.
  • Contribute to individual player physical development plans, ensuring programs are tailored to position, training age, injury history and performance needs.
  • Work collaboratively with the Head of Performance and multidisciplinary performance team to integrate field, gym, rehabilitation and football demands.
  • Provide high-quality coaching, feedback and technical instruction to players, maintaining strong standards of execution, intensity and professionalism.
  • Contribute to the ongoing review and evolution of the NRL physical performance program, bringing evidence-based practice, sound judgement and practical innovation.
  • Build strong working relationships with coaches, medical staff, performance staff and players, communicating clearly around player status, progression and performance priorities.
  • Support the collection, interpretation and reporting of relevant performance data to assist decision-making across the NRL program.

To be considered

To be considered for this opportunity you will have:

  • A tertiary qualification in Exercise Science, Strength & Conditioning, Human Movement or a related discipline.
  • Relevant professional strength and conditioning accreditation, with advanced accreditation highly regarded.
  • Significant experience delivering strength and conditioning programs in elite or professional sport, ideally within rugby league or another high-performance field-based team sport.
  • Demonstrated capability in field-based conditioning, speed and running preparation, and the physical demands of collision sport.
  • Strong experience in athlete reconditioning and return-to-performance planning, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary medical and performance environment.
  • Sound capability in gym-based strength and power programming and delivery for elite athletes.
  • Strong communication, coaching and stakeholder skills, with the confidence to work effectively with senior coaches, performance staff and professional athletes.
  • A highly organised, collaborative and performance-focused approach, with sound judgement, attention to detail and the ability to operate effectively in a demanding elite sporting environment.
