The Head of Government Relations and Infrastructure leads BQ’s relationships with local, state and federal government to advance basketball’s strategic priorities across Queensland. The role positions basketball within government policy and investment priorities, securing support for programs, participation, development pathways, events and infrastructure that strengthens BQ’s impact and financial sustainability.
Reporting directly to the CEO, the role independently builds relationships and progresses government funding, partnerships and advocacy opportunities within agreed plans and delegations. It works with BQ’s program and event owners to develop credible proposals, attract and place basketball events, and translate government support into achievable commitments. It also leads the BQ Facilities Strategy and statewide infrastructure advocacy.
The role provides specialist advice to the CEO and contributes to relevant Executive Leadership Team discussions, including government priorities and Brisbane 2032 opportunities. It coordinates with Commercial where government opportunities involve sponsorship or commercial benefits.
