About Shooting Australia
Shooting Australia (SA) is funded by the Australian Sports Commission (ASC) through the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) and is the recognised national sporting organisation for Olympic and Paralympic target shooting in Australia. SA’s primary purpose is to identify and develop talented athletes, and to support their successful engagement and medal-winning performances in international competitions including World Cups, World Championships and the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
To achieve this, SA works closely with a range of key stakeholders including the AIS and National Institute Network (NIN), the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC), Paralympics Australia (PA), Commonwealth Games Australia (CGA), the International Shooting Sports Federation (ISSF) and World Shooting Para Sports (WSPS).
About the role
Shooting Australia (SA) is looking for someone to help plan and deliver a range of Para Shooting initiatives and activties that align with SA's LA 2028+ High Performance Strategy. The Para Program Coordinator will work closely and collaboratively with the Precision Program Manager and Para Lead to:
- Coordinate Shooting’s engagement with PA and the AIS Future Green and Gold talent identification sessions.
- Coordinate SA’s delivery of Para Talent Transfer Camps for athletes that would like to transition from other Paralympic sports to Shooting.
- Support new Para Shooting athletes to navigate firearms licencing and connect with club-based daily training environments in their respective state(s).
- Provide administrative and logistical support to SA’s Para Classification processes and activities (i.e. at Provisional and National levels).
- Facilitate the successful engagement of SA’s Para National Teams in international competitions through the implementation of event entries, travel and associated logistics.
- Travel domestically and/or internationally in support if required.
- Maintain effective communication and relationships with Para athletes and the people that support them, Para-friendly clubs and the wider Shooting community.
Now is an exciting time to be involved in Para Sports with the para uplift coming out of the Win Well 2032+ Strategy and its vision "to create an inclusive and equitable HP sports system where Para athletes can fully realise their potential and unite, inspire, and motivate Australian's for generations to come."
