Are you a motivated and enthusiastic Swim Coach ready to make a meaningful impact? SOPAC Swim Team is committed to fostering excellence, continuous growth, and a strong sense of teamwork—and we’re looking for someone who shares these values.

We’re currently seeking a casual Coach of Swimming to play a key role in developing the next generation of swimmers. This position offers the opportunity to work within a swimmer-centric environment alongside a dedicated and professional coaching team.

In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with the coaching team and Learn to Swim Co-ordinators to nurture junior talent, inspire athletes to achieve their best, and contribute to the long-term success of our prestigious swimming program. Our philosophy aims to balances community with performance, ensuring every swimmer is supported on their journey.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver dynamic and high-quality coaching sessions tailored to the needs of youth and junior swimmers, with a strong emphasis on skill development, progression, and athlete engagement.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior coaching staff, contributing to a collaborative, positive, and professional team culture that supports continuous improvement.
  • Serve as a key liaison for swimmers, parents, and fellow coaches - offering clear, timely, and respectful communication to ensure alignment and trust across the program.
  • Represent SOPAC Swim Team at competitions, championship meets, and training camps, supporting athletes and promoting club values in both performance and conduct.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience in swim coaching, ideally within a school or club environment, with a demonstrated ability to engage and develop youth swimmers.
  • Swimming Australia “Development” Coaching Licence (or currently undertaking), reflecting a commitment to high standards and ongoing learning.
  • Active membership with Swim Coaches & Teachers Australia, ensuring professional alignment and access to industry resources.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends, to meet the needs of our swimmers and program schedule.

  • First Aid Certificate
  • Current Provide/Perform CPR
  • Development Swimming Coach Accreditation
  • Working with Children Check
  • Play by the Rules - Child Protection Certificate
