About Wheelchair Rugby Australia
Wheelchair Rugby Australia (WRA) is the governing body in Australia responsible for the development and growth of wheelchair rugby. The Position
The Wheelchair Rugby Australia Internship provides students with work experience in the sport industry field. During the internship, the successful candidate will support the functions of delivering the Wheelchair Rugby National League and Wheelchair Rugby World Challenge. They will learn about all facets of event delivery including:
- Broadcast
- Operational Logistics
- Sport Operations
- School Holiday Program
- Functions & Ceremonies
This internship will also provide insight into the delivery of major sporting events for people with physical disabilities and operational considerations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the coordination of event operations for the National League and World Challenge, including:
- Transport and Logistics
- Results Management
- Venue Operations
- Team and Officials Communications
- Social Media and Website updates
- School Holiday Program and Ticketing
- Promotion of the event
- Volunteering
- Attend the 2026 Santos Wheelchair Rugby World Challenge and support event delivery (all travel covered by WRA)
Key Selection Criteria
Essential
- Studying business, management, sport management, event management, or equivalent
- Desire to learn more about the Australian sports industry.
- Ability to work in a team environment and at times autonomously with competence, integrity and efficiency.
- Excellent presentation and group training skills.
- Strong written and oral communication skills supported by interpersonal skills.
- Strong computer and IT skills
- Must be an Australia Citizen / Permanent Resident or already have the appropriate working rights with Australia to be considered for this position.
- Working with Children Check
Desirable
- Available for weekend and weeknight work when required
- Knowledge and understanding of the Australian sports industry
- Driver’s licence
