Aligned Leisure is a 100% owned subsidiary of the Richmond Football Club, established as a vehicle to manage the operations of Richmond’s health, fitness and leisure business activities. Supported by the people and business systems of the Richmond Football Club, Aligned Leisure currently operates 53 leisure centres, community stadiums, pools, gyms, skate parks, gymnastics programs, theatres and other facilities throughout Victoria and New South Wales.

This crucial role within Aligned Leisure operations, will drive the occupancy and bookings of all the stadiums in the Leisure Facilities contract. An important member of the Leadership Team, they will work across all Casey locations to best utilise community assets to deliver Council plans.  

The Department Head will be a visible leader. They will maintain exceptional working relationships with tenant and user groups. To succeed and establish Aligned Leisure, they must develop and maintain a prominent and visible role throughout the community by thoughtfully and professionally representing Aligned Leisure with key community stakeholders. 

They will lead an autonomous team of Stadium Captain’s and Service staff to deliver exceptional service to the customer and will strive for continuous improvement. This position will work relentlessly to implement the Aligned Leisure purpose of connecting to thrive and win, values of AWARE, DISCIPLINED, RELENTLESS and UNITED, and associated behaviours throughout the entire team. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Drive occupancy and bookings  

  • Utilise key community relationships to drive occupancy and bookings.  
  • Work with the Centre Managers and the Programming Coordinator on the delivery of relevant aspects of council’s plans.  
  • Relentlessly pursue prospects to convert to tenants and user groups. 
  • Ensure bookings information is easily available, relevant and channels are available to capture enquiry data.  
  • Provide regular information and content for all leisure communication channels.  

2. Management of Stadiums  

  • Full oversight of venue occupancy including community rooms and multipurpose facilities.  
  • Drive occupancy and revenue on all casual court availabilities, especially over quieter periods.  
  • Ensure booking system processes are implemented and maintained. 
  • Seek opportunities for additional bookings.  
  • Ensure facilities is clean, presentable and setup for all bookings and competitions.  
  • Implement program plans in accordance with agreed service plans.  
  • Review and Implement Stadium operational processes and procedures.  

3. Management of centre operations  

  • Oversee a team of Centre Managers, Stadium Captains, Duty Captains and Customer Experience Officers to manage the daily operations of the facilities. 
  • Ensure the highest levels of cleanliness and presentation always, especially in areas such as change rooms.  
  • Liaise regularly with the Centre Manager team on all aspects of the building, plant and equipment.  
  • Ensure detailed and timely reporting of maintenance items to Facilities and Council as appropriate.  
  • Liaise with user groups and service delivery staff to direct, coordinate to ensure that the facility is set up for programs as required.  
  • Staff leadership and supervision across any service delivery staff.  
  • Ensure compliance to all shift checklists.  
  • Manage and review the staff rosters, ensuring compliance with employment conditions, and effective alignment of staffing levels with operational needs such as direct service. 
  • Be familiar with the shifts activities to ensure the facility is prepared to deliver the best possible service.  
  • Maximise sales opportunities for all bookings, programs, and memberships.  
  • Drive focus area for our “united” customer experience at stadium facilities, focussing to minimise wait times, especially at the front desk and on the phones.  

4. Liaise with Tenants, User groups and Community Groups 

  • Maintain exceptional working relationships with tenants, user groups, and community groups. 
  • Work collaboratively with tenants, user groups, and community groups to drive occupancy and booking growth, recognising the requirements of any agreements between Council and these groups, and ensuring alignment with facility contract specifications. 
  • Foster strong community connections and engagement by supporting inclusive, accessible, and meaningful opportunities for community participation in facility activities and programs. 

5. Member of the Leisure Senior Leadership Team  

  • Members of the Leisure Senior Leadership Team will role model the values of aware, discipline, relentless and united always. They will instil these values throughout the organisation and ensure that all new staff are hired with these values in mind.  
  • Members of the Leisure Senior Leadership Team will always act in the best interests of Aligned Leisure and council. If at any time a member of the leadership team believes that these priorities are not aligned, then the situation should be escalated to the Leisure Manager.  

6. Outstanding service delivery to all customers and stakeholders  

  • Aligned Leisure will be renowned for delivering outstanding service and providing memorable experiences for our customers. In your role, you will be relentless in identifying these opportunities and you will always ask yourself “How would I want a member of my family treated in this situation?”  
  • All Aligned Leisure staff will understand and deliver on our customer charter and service promise.  

The Manager Stadiums must be available to work flexibly to be available during peak times. They may from time to time be required to undertake other tasks as directed by the Leisure Area Manager. 

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. Experience in sports management and sports programming.  
  2. A demonstrated understanding of relevant Health and Safety legislation and industry guidelines as they relate to the safe operations of stadiums.  
  3. Well-developed supervisory skills and the ability to manage, lead and train a diverse team of multi-disciplinary staff. 
  4. Well-developed understanding of the needs of key stadium user groups and the ability to negotiate successful outcomes with these groups.  
  5. The position will be subject to relevant pre-employment checks such as a Police Check and must maintain a current working with children check. 
  6. The successful applicant must hold or be willing to attain First Aid and CPR qualifications
