We are seeking a Sport, Strategy and Projects Coordinator to provide leadership, direction and expert advice in the planning, development and delivery of sport and active recreation strategies, policies, services and infrastructure.

The Role

Reporting to the Sport and Active Lifestyle Manager, this role provides strategic leadership across sport and active recreation planning and infrastructure, supporting Council, Councillors and the community through evidence-based decision making.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the development and delivery of the Noosa Sport and Active Recreation Plan and related strategies
  • Providing expert strategic advice on sport, active recreation and infrastructure matters
  • Leading and managing the Sport Strategy and Development team
  • Overseeing delivery of strategic projects, programs and partnerships to agreed scope, timeframes and quality standards
  • Providing strategic infrastructure advice including feasibility studies, business cases, precinct planning and land use considerations
  • Leading major capital infrastructure projects from concept development through to delivery
  • Developing and maintaining strong partnerships with government agencies, sporting organisations and community stakeholders
  • Preparing high-level reports, council papers, budgets, procurement documentation and funding applications
  • Supporting community sporting organisations with infrastructure planning and development on Council and State land
  • Leading Council’s strategic readiness planning for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games

About You

You are an experienced and capable leader with a strong background in strategy, policy and project delivery within local or state government, sport, infrastructure or community development environments.

You will bring:

  • Proven experience leading teams and managing performance
  • Demonstrated capability in strategic planning, master planning and feasibility studies
  • Experience in capital works, contract and procurement management
  • Strong analytical, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills
  • The ability to navigate political, organisational and community sensitivities with professionalism and sound judgement

Relevant tertiary qualifications in sport and recreation, project management, business or a related discipline, or substantial equivalent experience, are essential.

Essential Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in Sport and Recreation, Project or Business Management, Community Development or other relevant field and/or proven substantial experience in strategic development and project delivery within the sport, infrastructure and community space.
  • Experience in managing and implementing capital works and facility asset/maintenance programs.
  • Experience in contract management
  • Current Senior First Aid
  • Positive Notice for Child Related Employment (Blue Card)
  • Current “C” drivers’ licence
