The Australian Cheer Union (ACU), the unified national peak body for Cheer & Dance in Australia, is seeking experienced professionals to join its Board of Directors as Non-Executive Directors with a governance and finance focus.
This volunteer role carries a two-year term and centres on providing strategic oversight rather than operational management. Board members contribute to both organisational performance and compliance by supporting strategic planning, monitoring financial performance and risk frameworks, upholding strong governance standards, and protecting the interests of ACU’s stakeholders.
We are particularly seeking individuals with governance experience and expertise in finance, audit, risk, compliance, or corporate governance (CPA/CA qualifications desirable). Experience within sport, not-for-profit, or membership-based organisations is advantageous.
Board members must be independent, ethical leaders committed to transparency, accountability, and the long-term growth of the Cheer & Dance sector. The role involves attending monthly or bi-monthly virtual meetings (1-2 hours), reviewing Board materials, and contributing to committee work and continuous improvement initiatives.
