About the Role
As an Aquatic Operations Team Leader, you will play a key role in leading a large and diverse lifeguard and operations team. You’ll balance people leadership with technical expertise, ensuring your team is engaged, capable, and consistently delivering safe and exceptional experiences.
Working collaboratively across operations, you’ll oversee workforce planning, staff development, safety systems, and compliance standards - contributing to a high-performing, well-supported, and accountable team culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead workforce planning, rostering, and resource allocation across aquatic operations
- Drive staff development, including training coordination, performance support, and capability building
- Support Supervisors and Lifeguards with workflow, communication, and team leadership
- Foster a positive, high-performing team culture focused on engagement and accountability
- Oversee aquatic safety, compliance, and operational procedures in line with GSPO and regulatory standards
- Manage compliance monitoring, auditing, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Coordinate asset management, preventative maintenance, and technical operations
- Lead incident investigation, documentation, and risk management processes
- Support delivery of programs, events, and customer experience outcomes
- Contribute to operational planning, projects, and continuous improvement across the aquatic space
What You Bring to the Pool Deck
- Proven leadership experience within aquatic, recreation, or similar environments
- Strong rostering and workforce planning capability
- Experience in training coordination, staff development, or competency-based training
- Solid understanding of aquatic safety, compliance frameworks, and risk management
- Experience with audits, incident management, and regulatory requirements
- Ability to interpret and apply standards in a practical, operational setting
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining high standards
Essential Qualifications:
- Pool Lifeguard
- First Aid
- Working with Children Check (WWCC)
- Aquatic Technical Operator
