The Opportunity

Wests Tigers is seeking an experienced and passionate Pathways Coaching Director to lead the strategic direction of coaching across our Elite Pathways & Player Development (EPPD) program.

This senior leadership position is responsible for establishing and embedding a whole-of-club coaching framework that aligns all pathway programs with the Club's NRL football philosophy and systems. The role will play a critical part in developing future NRL talent while driving coaching excellence, performance outcomes and a high-performance culture across male pathways. 

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Head of Elite Pathways & Player Development, you will:

  • Lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of the Club's coaching framework.
  • Ensure alignment of coaching philosophy, systems and player development methodologies across all pathway teams.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring and performance management to Pathways Head Coaches and coaching staff.
  • Recruit, develop and support current and emerging coaching talent.
  • Partner with the Pathways High-Performance Manager to deliver holistic athlete development programs.
  • Oversee football-specific planning, training standards, game-day processes and coaching effectiveness.
  • Monitor player progression and readiness for advancement through the pathway system.
  • Support player recruitment, retention and succession planning initiatives.
  • Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, affiliated clubs, schools, governing bodies and community partners.
  • Ensure compliance with Club policies, governance standards and football operational requirements.
  • Deliver regular reporting on coaching, football development and pathway performance outcomes. 

About You

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

Essential

  • Significant experience in leadership roles within elite or high-performance sport.
  • Demonstrated success leading coaches and multidisciplinary performance teams.
  • Experience within elite rugby league or a comparable high-performance sporting environment.
  • Strong knowledge of athlete development pathways and coaching systems.
  • Outstanding leadership, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Strategic thinking capability with proven experience designing and implementing performance programs.
  • Ability to foster a positive, high-performance culture while developing people and teams.
  • Valid Working With Children Check.
  • Current driver's licence and ability to travel as required.
  • Full Australian working rights. 

Desirable

  • Tertiary qualifications in Sports Coaching, Sports Science, High-Performance Sport, Education, Leadership or a related discipline.
  • Advanced coaching accreditation.
  • Experience working within elite rugby league development and representative pathways.
