About Us
The Perth Bears are making history as the newest NRL club, joining the competition in 2027. We’re more than a sporting team, we’re building a movement that will unite fans, inspire young athletes, and create opportunities across Western Australia. By joining the Bears, you’ll play an important role in bringing our vision to life and creating something truly special for our members, partners, and community.
The Opportunity
We’re looking for a practical and organised Finance Officer to support the effective financial management of the Club by delivering accurate, timely and compliant accounts payable, accounts receivable, banking and reconciliation activities. Reporting to the Head of Finance, you’ll help keep invoices, payments, receipts and reconciliations accurate and up to date.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys getting the details right, following up what’s outstanding and helping a growing finance function run smoothly. You’ll work across supplier invoices, customer accounts, banking, employee expenses and month-end support.
What You’ll Do
- Process supplier invoices, check coding and approvals, and keep supplier records up to date.
- Prepare weekly supplier payments and reconcile supplier statements.
- Raise customer invoices, allocate payments and follow up overdue accounts.
- Complete daily bank reconciliations and investigate any differences.
- Reconcile corporate credit cards and process employee reimbursements.
- Check receipts and supporting documents and follow up missing or non-compliant information.
- Assist with BAS, GST checks and month-end tasks such as journals, accruals and reconciliations.
- Support audits, reporting and other finance administration as needed.
- Follow finance controls and help improve simple, practical processes as the club grows.
What We’re Looking For
- Demonstrated experience in a finance administration, accounts payable, accounts receivable or a similar finance role.
- A relevant qualification in accounting, finance or bookkeeping is desired.
- Practical experience processing invoices, supplier payments, customer receipts, employee reimbursements and credit card transactions.
- Strong reconciliation skills, including bank, general ledger and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Experience supporting month-end processes, including journals, accruals and reconciliations.
- Sound understanding of GST, BAS requirements and fundamental accounting principles.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate financial records.
- Proficiency in accounting systems and Microsoft Excel, with the ability to learn new systems quickly.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, with a professional and confident approach to internal and external stakeholders.
Why Join Us?
This is a rare chance to join a new NRL club and help build strong finance foundations from the beginning. You’ll have variety, ownership of your day-to-day work and the opportunity to improve how things are done as the Perth Bears grow.
You’ll work with an ambitious and collaborative team, contribute to a once-in-a-generation sporting project and play a practical part in shaping the future of rugby league in Western Australia.
Working in a Start-Up Environment
The Perth Bears are a start-up organisation, so our finance systems and processes are still evolving. Some tasks are currently managed through simple systems such as Xero, and these will develop as the club grows and moves towards a more complete ERP system.
You’ll need to be comfortable working in a practical, hands-on way, adapting to change and helping improve processes over time. You won’t be expected to have every answer, but you should be willing to ask questions, solve problems and learn new systems.
This role will suit someone who is flexible, reliable and happy to balance daily transaction processing with small process improvements.
