About the Role
Shoalhaven City Council is seeking an experienced Aquatic Education Coordinator to lead and grow our Learn to Swim and Squad programs at Ulladulla Leisure Centre. This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives poolside as much as behind the scenes.
As the Aquatic Education Coordinator, you will have operational responsibility for the day-to-day coordination, development and promotion of our Learn to Swim and Squad programs. You'll support the Centre Coordinator, supervise aquatic education staff, and ensure programs are delivered safely, professionally and to a high standard.
This role suits someone who enjoys working with children and families, mentoring instructors, and creating positive aquatic experiences - all while ensuring compliance, quality service delivery and program sustainability.
Some of the key responsibilities include:
- Day-to-day coordination of Aquatic Education programs and services at Ulladulla Leisure Centre
- Supervise staff, including Learn to Swim Instructors, Squad coaches, customer service and Lifeguard staff to ensure professional, efficient service delivery
- Develop new programs, set up, implement and maintain swim school computerised database, client management and monitor / ensure payment for services provided
- Provide instruction services / class tuition, educating swimmers regarding safe practices, enforcing water safety policies, detecting and reporting hazards, administering emergency first aid as required
- Promote services to schools and other service providers
- Delivery of in-house staff training and on-site induction
- Process customer requests, bookings and transactions in an effective and accurate manner within the policies and procedures of the Centre
- Read and respond accordingly to all facility communications including noticeboards, memos, newsletters, emails and diaries
- Undertake any other duties required by the Centre Coordinator

About You
To be successful in the position, you will have:
- Current AUSTSWIM, Royal Life Saving Society Australia or Swimming Australia Certificate
- Teacher of Swimming & Water Safety (or equivalent)
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Award (CPR) or current RLSSA Pool Lifeguard Award
- 2 - 3 years Learn to Swim experience in the Aquatic or Leisure Industry
- Supervisory / Leadership experience in an Aquatic Leisure or other multi-faceted organisation
- Previous experience with computerised swimming school packages
- Current NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC)
- Class C drivers licence
- Proof of right to work in Australia
This position requires a current NSW Working with Children Check. Applicants are required to apply and pay for this check if not already obtained.
