POSITION CAPABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following responsibilities are indicative requirements of the role and are not intended to represent an exhaustive list of all requirements.   

• Lead the development and implementation of AusTriathlon's coach workforce, education and development strategy to support current and future participation needs.
• Develop and maintain nationally aligned coaching frameworks, education programs and workforce opportunities that build coach capability across all stages of participation and performance.
• Drive the recruitment, development, accreditation, retention and recognition of coaches across Australia.
• Establish and support communities of practice, mentoring opportunities and professional development initiatives that strengthen coaching capability and connection.
• Create safe, inclusive and supportive coaching environments through contemporary resources, education and workforce initiatives that enhance participant experiences and development outcomes.
• Lead national state development initiatives that connect participation, coaching and athlete development opportunities

KPI'S

• Specific measures of success will include (but are not limited to): 
• Growth in the number, capability and retention of accredited coaches nationally.
• Delivery and ongoing implementation of a nationally aligned coach education and workforce development framework.
• Increased coach engagement through mentoring, communities of practice and professional development opportunities.
• Demonstrated growth in junior participation and development opportunities across identified pathways.
• Improved quality, safety and consistency of coaching environments across the sport.
• Delivery of coaching and junior development initiatives against approved budgets, operational plans and strategic priorities.
• Demonstration of behaviours aligned with AusTri values and framework
• Must be able to demonstrate and understanding of appropriate behaviours when engaging with Children.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS ARE ESSENTIAL (E) AND/OR DESIRABLE (D):

• Experience within a National Sporting Organisation (NSO) or similar (E) 
• Evidence of success in a Coach and state Development or Operations focused role at an NSO or similar (E)
• Evidence of strong stakeholder relations (E) 
• Strong business acumen including P&L oversight responsibility (D)  
• Bachelor's degree, preferably in Commerce or Sports Management (D) 
• Working with Children Clearance & Police Checks (E)
• Awareness of, and ability to work in accordance with AusTriathlon’s Safeguarding and Children and Young People policies (E)

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

• AusTriathlon is committed to protecting all children and young people from harm.  We require all applicants that will work with children and young people to undergo an extensive screening process prior to appointment. 
• Consistent adherence to all obligations and legislative requirements regarding Child Safety and Working with Children. This includes but is not limited to, holding a valid Working With Children Check (or equivalent) and internal education requirements.
• Awareness of and ability to work in accordance with the National Integrity Framework and all AusTriathlon policies.
• Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of appropriate behaviours when engaging with children and young People. 
• You must be an Australian/New Zealand citizen or hold permanent residency, or right to work in Australia. 
• Flexibility to work outside normal business hours, including weekends and evenings, to attend events and meet organisational needs.
