Description

Who Are We?

Power Community Limited, the not-for-profit charity arm of the Port Adelaide Football Club, harnesses the power of sport, our brand, and positive role models to create opportunities for children, young people and ADF Veterans to build skills, resilience, and connections - empowering them to shape their future and contribute to a more just, inclusive, and equitable society.

Our multi award-winning programs are delivered across four streams including First Nations, Multicultural, Australian Defence Force and the prevention of violence against women.

Through innovative, evidence-based, and culturally responsive programs co-designed with communities, our programs address the following outcomes:

  • Increased confidence, wellbeing, and resilience among participants, leading to higher engagement in learning and improved health and wellbeing.
  • Greater gender equality, awareness, and respect for diversity, contributing to safer and inclusive communities.
  • Enhanced cultural pride, mutual respect, and reconciliation, fostering a sense of belonging and unity.
  • Increased school attendance and engagement, academic achievement and attainment, and pathways to further education.
  • Enhanced career readiness supporting transitions from education to employment, lowering youth unemployment and underemployment.

About the Role

The First Nations Programs Coordinator delivers Power Community’s First Nations programs, including the Santos Aboriginal Power Cup (SA and NT) and community outreach initiatives. Working closely with First Nations communities, schools and partners, the role focuses on education, culture, health and wellbeing, and post-school pathways - building confidence and connection for First Nations young people. The coordinator also supports the Port Adelaide Football Club First Nations Advisory Committee.

This hands-on role calls for genuine passion for working with First Nations young people, along with the cultural knowledge and community connection to deliver culturally safe, engaging programs. It combines program coordination, direct delivery, and stakeholder engagement, with travel across remote, regional, and interstate locations

Key Responsibilities

  • Support planning, coordination, and delivery of the Santos Aboriginal Power Cup (stakeholder engagement, logistics, program delivery), along with coordination of AFL/AFLW player engagement.
  • Co-facilitate the curriculum-aligned program in metro, regional, and remote schools (culture, health/wellbeing, education, employment pathways).
  • Support Power Community’s youth justice primary prevention programs in the NT as required, as well as First Nations community outreach initiatives, ensuring cultural safety and community-led approaches.
  • Collect and record participant data, attendance, and feedback in line with privacy/contractual requirements and the ability to maintain records, activities, expenditure, and engagement.
  • Build and maintain relationships with schools, community organisations, partners, and the Advisory Committee.
  • Support program evaluation (surveys, case studies, outcome measurement). Prepare reports, acquittal documentation, and impact evaluations for funder/partners.
  • Ensure compliance with child safety policies and legislative requirements.

What You Will Bring

  • 2-3 years’ demonstrated experience working with First Nations young people and communities, including with young people facing complex challenges or justice system contact.
  • Cultural competence and strong understanding of First Nations protocols, trauma informed practice and community engagement.
  • Strong facilitation and communication skills, adaptable across ages and settings.
  • Relationship building skills across schools, government, and community organisations.
  • Strong organisational skills - managing multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities with the ability to work autonomously and collaboratively.
  • Current Working with Children Checks (SA and NT, or willingness to obtain), with a deep commitment to child safety and professional boundaries.
  • Current unrestricted driver’s licence and current First Aid Certificate.
