The Director of Women's Rugby is responsible for leading, developing, and growing the Gordon Rugby Club Women's Program. This role provides strategic direction across all women's teams while creating a high-performance, inclusive, and enjoyable environment that supports players from community level through to representative rugby.
The role oversees recruitment, culture, operations, coach management, and stakeholder engagement to ensure the women's program's long-term success and sustainability.
Leadership & Strategy
Develop & implement the strategic vision for the Gordon Women's Rugby Program.
Foster a positive, inclusive & high-performance culture aligned with Gordon Rugby Club values.
Build strong relationships with coaches, players, volunteers, sponsors & club stakeholders
Represent the women's program within the club and wider rugby community
Coach Development
Recruit, mentor, and support coaches across all women's teams (XV's & 7's).
Facilitate coach education and professional development where applicable.
Ensure consistency in coaching philosophy throughout the program.
Conduct regular coach reviews and feedback sessions in collaboration with the Head of Coaching & Mentoring.
Recruitment & Retention
Working with the Director of Rugby & Women’s Head Coach to develop recruitment strategies to attract new players.
Maintain & build relationships with schools, universities and community clubs.
Implement initiatives that improve player retention and engagement.
Support transitions from junior to senior women's rugby.
Program Operations
Work with the Women’s Head Coach, Director of Rugby & General Manager to coordinate season planning, training schedules, and competition logistics.
Assist with budgeting, equipment management and resource allocation.
Ensure compliance with Rugby Australia, NSW Rugby and club policies.
Community & Club Engagement
Promote the women's program through club events and community initiatives.
Assist in securing sponsorship opportunities and maintaining sponsor relationships.
Encourage strong connections between the women's program and the broader Gordon Rugby Club.
Support promotional activities, social media and community engagement.
Key Selection Criteria
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Experience in either the women’s rugby or rugby coaching space is desired.
Ability to develop players and coaches.
Understanding of player pathways, specifically for women.
Current coaching accreditation, WWCC, First Aid desirable.

Ideally attend one training per week throughout the season, plus matches and club events.
